Testimonials: Here are some lovely words from people who have stayed with us

Sarah Burgess’s Stay at Camp Cottage – July 2022

We’re just back from another week at Camp Cottage – our 8th year but young Phoebe’s first and she
loved it as much as her predecessor.

We first discovered the cottage in 2012 when we were looking for a ‘get away from it all’ break.
Driving up through the field of sheep we did wonder what we would find, but as soon as we got out
of the car and saw the huge garden and wonderful views, we knew we had found somewhere rather
special. If our dog barked she wasn’t going to disturb anyone up here! But we actually found that it
was so peaceful there was nothing to trigger her and she chilled out straight away – as did we.

When it says ‘dog friendly’ it really is. Apart from the safe, well-fenced garden, there are footpaths
straight from cottage and you are spoilt for choice for walks in the local area with something to suit
all abilities just a short drive away.

We are still discovering new walks even now and there’s no
shortage of dog-friendly pubs for post-walk refreshment.
But we rather like heading back to relax at the cottage (maybe with some local cider!) hopefully in
the garden but if the weather doesn’t allow, the cottage is comfortable, well-equipped and spacious
– and you can still enjoy the views from every window. It is lovely just to sit taking in the view,
spotting deer in the surrounding fields, watching the birds in the day and the bats in the evening,
with no sounds of modern day life. It is the one place that all three of us truly relax.
We like to explore new places and have stayed at many cottages around the country over the years,
but Camp Cottage is the only one we keep coming back to, and are always sad to leave. We’re
already planning next year’s trip!

Guests dogs enjoying the views at camp cottage

We had a great time at the cottage and particularly enjoyed the peace and quiet.

We had a great time at the cottage and particularly enjoyed the peace and quiet.  At night there was just the wind and an occasional bleat from the sheep.  Returning to the city I was aware of traffic noise, which I otherwise hardly notice!  We liked watching the pheasants in the garden and my wife gorged on damsons every day!  The lovely open view from the windows and the garden is a pleasure to contemplate.

Herefordshire was a new part of the country for us and it lived up to expectations: gentle, non-spectacular landscapes, good for walking, and very relaxing.

We certainly enjoyed a very peaceful and relaxing week at Camp Cottage.

We certainly enjoyed a very peaceful and relaxing week at Camp Cottage. It is a delightful setting and the views wonderful. We enjoyed some walks straight from the cottage and visited the nearby parish church built in the Arts and Crafts style

All the cottage very well equipped. We did light the stove  in the evenings which made the place cosy. Thanks for the loan of walking maps which helped us to enjoy the local walks.

Well we’ve left those wonderful views & cosy cottage now & back to reality

Well we’ve left those wonderful views & cosy cottage now & back to reality ………………….but with lots of lovely memories!

We thoroughly enjoyed our weeks stay at Camp Cottage. It wasn’t like any other holiday cottage we’ve stayed in – felt more like a home from home It has character & charm & personality & style As soon as we saw it – a feeling of welcome wrapped you up………just loved it!

Short of nothing – everything you may need is provided. The area is great too – lots of lovely scenery & market towns to have a wander round

The ‘dogs’ loved it – roaming & sniffing around the garden ………totally tired out at the end of each day with fresh air & walks

Camp cottage was the idealic retreat

Camp cottage was the idealic retreat I needed after a hectic few weeks cooped up working from home. There is a lovely, stylish (love the artwork!) and warm atmosphere inside and the panoramic views outside are just amazing!   Coupled with the lovely walks and the good shopping in Hereford, this is a country hideaway that Ill definitely return to soon!
